Who We Are
Engineering Solutions, LLC provides HVAC and plumbing consulting engineering design, building commissioning and retro-commissioning services. The firm was founded in 2012 with a vision of providing innovative professional engineering services to architects, owners, design build contractors, developers and municipalities. As a multi-discipline firm, we often partner with independent electrical and structural engineering firms to provide our clients with full MEP and structural design services.
Communication is one of the most important aspects of our business. Our clients need that communication to ensure their project is coordinated and completed on their schedule. We pride ourselves in being available, committing to project schedules and budgets and designing projects in an innovative and energy efficient manner. Our process of “thinking outside the box” by evaluating designs that employ building sustainability and energy conservation techniques helps to smooth the design and construction process. We review all aspects of the construction documents and/or existing conditions to guarantee a successful, well-coordinated project.
As building construction cost rises and owners and architects deal with tightening building structures, it is the responsibility of the engineer to make sure the designs are constructible to avoid conflicts in the field. We strive to prevent conflicts before they happen.
Engineering Solutions, LLC also provides commissioning services for building systems to operate efficiently and as intended by the engineer of record. We maintain up-to-date knowledge of Building and Energy Codes and provide our clients with technical expertise in evaluating new and existing buildings. Our services include computerized heating and cooling load analysis, energy conservation studies, building controls recommendations, system life cycle cost analysis, and building system evaluation surveys.
We are members of the Association of Energy Engineers, the American Society for Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers and have LEED and Certified Building Commissioning (CBCP) accredited professionals on staff.
Leadership
Scott Smith is the President and Owner of Engineering Solutions, LLC having formed the company in 2012. Scott’s 34 years of mechanical and plumbing engineering and commissioning experience in design build bid, traditional design bid build process and owner-direct projects has allowed him to experience many different types of mechanical and plumbing systems and develop the interpersonal relationship skills needed to function at a high level with architects, general and mechanical contractors and owners. His ability to visualize design and construction issues affords the design and construction team the assurance that the engineering and design solutions will be correct, constructible, and economically responsible. Scott has been a Principal Owner in Engineering and Commissioning firms for 20 years. During that tenure he has effectively grown firms and mentored staff in pursuit of their engineering career. Scott has been involved in the commissioning field for ten years, however technically performed the commissioning tasks for most of the projects he has designed. A proud Kansas State University graduate, Scott received from the school a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology. He’s a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Inc. (ASHRAE), Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) and is certified Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). Scott is a Licensed Professional Engineer in Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas and Washington.
